Drive shaft u joint bolts. Ford must have had 5 or 6 different ways they hooked the shaft to the rearend. One near the transmission that is connected to the transmission yoke and one near the differential connected to the pinion yoke. The smaller flange pattern measures 2 3/16″ from bolt center to bolt center.

It comes with two new universal joints and eight circlips. The possibility of the drive shaft from coming apart at the splined section (fig1). I ended up having to drop the sway bar to allow access.

All i had to do was unbolt the end at the differential and then slide the spline out to replace the u joints. Denny's stocks all the hardware you will need to install your driveshaft. To remove the shaft on my 2500, is the only other step to remove the two bolts on the support bearing and drop it with the shaft.

Compress the slip joint with care to prevent damaging the dust cap or spline seal. The combination of the sway bar and the exhaust being in the way had the bolts in a very tight place. Position the universal joint shaft at the top, making sure that the pilots are seated firmly into mating companion flange and that the bolt holes are aligned.

They suggest torque at 20 lbs or so, pretty low. It wasn't until the rear swap that the vibration appeared. The u niversal joints allow drive shafts to move up and down with the suspension while the shaft is moving so power can be transmitted when the drive shaft isn’t in a straight line between the transmission and drive wheels.

M12 x 1.25 x 25mm. The newer zooks use a larger bolt pattern with larger (stronger) bolts. Take off the driveshaft flange;

It can also be recognized by the use of smaller bolts that use a pair of 12mm wrenches for. The flange yokes then bolt to a flange on the rear axle and transfer case. That's why there is a little bit of confusion about what he has, we all seem to have a different way the shafts bolt in our trucks.
